There are short-cuts to happiness, and dancing is one of them.
— Vicki Baum

(b)rave is held in cooperation with Daybreaker - WELLNESS | COMMUNITY | MUSIC | MISCHIEF

Sometimes in life we just feel STUCK. Maybe we are in crisis, or maybe we are just living so predictably, so routine. — which is where (b)rave comes in. We like to shake things up. Literally and figuratively. What if you were to live DIFFERENTLY for even just one day? Start off on a different side of the bed? What would that look like?  And what if you came together with a whole lotta other people who wanted to do the same?  What would it mean to truly WAKE UP, to life, to your senses, to community, to happiness- to all of it?

It would look a lot like (b)rave.

What happens at (b)rave?

Wellness, mindfulness, community, music, and a little bit of mischief meant to WAKE YOU UP.  We dance our faces off before work and feel gloriously healthy while doing so. We gather in community to participate in something greater than ourselves.

(B)rave is about choosing to live life differently, choosing to be happy, and choosing to pursue the best versions of ourselves.

We start with a one hour yoga + meditation, and then dance with reckless abandon for two hours before work. We come as we are to sweat, dance and connect with ourselves and each other.

Come leave it on the dance floor.

(B)rave is an alcohol and drug-free event. Being "free" to dance and WAKE UP with community during the morning is amazing for your health and happiness because it helps release your brain’s natural “happy chemicals.” This quartet of chemicals include: Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin and Endorphins. We call it the (b)rave DOSE.

How to get it:

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that helps control the brain’s reward and pleasure centers. It motivates you to take action toward your goals and gives you a surge of reinforcing pleasure when you achieve each goal. At (b)rave, you have to set your alarm and wake up before the sun comes up. This offers a deep feeling of accomplishment. While most everyone is sleeping, you’re up and dancing!

Oxytocin is often referred to as “the cuddle hormone.” When hugging or kissing a loved one, oxytocin levels increase.  At each (b)rave, a hugging committee greets party-goers with a genuine hug upon arrival that triggers oxytocin. This release creates intimacy and trust and strengthens relationships. Experiencing a whole community of people around, moving together — all means for more happy chemicals.

Serotonin, the brain chemical crucial to mood and motivation, also shapes personality to make you susceptible to spiritual experiences. Serotonin flows when you feel significant or important. At (b)rave, the DJ’s we select play positive, upbeat and joyful music, and our MCs facilitate transformational experiences for people who have never had a morning dance experience like this before!

Endorphins are morphine-like chemicals released from the pituitary gland that help diminish pain and trigger positive feelings. They’ll release in times of stress, pain, orgasm and with strenuous exercise. A “second wind” or the euphoric “runner’s high” are both the result of endorphins. At (b)rave, you get to dance for two hours straight. Add in the hour-long yoga experience, and you’re burning upwards of 1000 calories in one (b)rave morning!

Tell life who's boss. WAKE UP & DANCE.
